My Pauline passed away at 11:30 last night. She was my kids' paternal grandmother, but so much more than just that to me. She and I remained close all the years since we met in 1970, even though her son and I divorced in 1980. I could never refer to her as my "ex" anything because I loved her and she was an important member of my family...which is why I called her "my Pauline."
She loved Rich too and was so glad that the kids and I found such happiness in our new life with him twenty-five years ago, even though it meant that we moved so far from her. She was a letter writer, I was more likely to phone, but either way we were never as far apart as the miles would imply and we visited her whenever we traveled back home.
I took this photo at her 98th Birthday Celebration this past October 24th. At 98 she was still so beautiful, in every sense of the word.

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. I know from hearing you speak of Pauline and from hearing stories from Sandee that she was a special woman. I am sure that she had a wonderful and full life, but I know that those who loved her will miss her. You and all those who loved her will be in my prayers.
