I did indicate that I wouldn't post any more water photos. However, this is more of an off-road adventure post. It just happened to end at a lovely pond.
After driving back down Whiteface Veterans Memorial Highway we continued to explore that area. Noticing a sign for Moose Pond we decided to check it out. After crossing a single-lane wooden bridge, the road quickly became unpaved, rutted, dirt and rock with one narrow lane in most places. As it continued to climb and drop and turn with no end in sight and since we had no idea how many miles it was to this pond, we agreed several times to turn around at the top of the next rise or just around the next curve...but we kept on. Thank goodness we didn't give up.
This is Moose Pond. The reflection of the clouds give it a murky appearance but in fact the water was crystal clear. The Adirondacks are canoe and kayak heaven with this huge variety of lakes, ponds, and rivers.
I was mesmerized by the shapes of the exposed base and gnarled roots of ancient trees along the shore and the water marks etched into the rocks that lined the water's edge...nature's art.
After our all too brief stay at Moose Pond we returned to civilization along that same winding, rocky, narrow road.

Looks like you are having another amazing adventure through the northeast. More to add to my "when we get time list"... So many places. Love all the off the beaten path areas that you are finding. That is certainly our style for traveling too.
